Success Story! Recovery of Rescued Husky / Shepherd Mix.
Four Donors Join Forces to Save Gravely Ill Dog.
29 Apr 2008

On March 19, 2008 I posted the following on the Amazon CARES forum.

We recently rescued a German shepherd/ Siberian Husky mix. She is female. @ 6 years old, with a weight of 9 kg (19.84 lbs). She is in a complete state of malnutrition with nosebleeds, mucus, cough, injuries due to close contact of concrete with her bones, external and internal parasites. She was abandoned in the outskirts of town, and has suffered much cruelty and neglect.

Abandoned Husky/Shepherd Mix w/ 2 abandoned puppies.

Her recovery:

She needs tests of laboratories (blood, urine, wastes etc), x-rays, blood transfusion, antibiotics, antiparasitarios internal and external anti-parasite medicine, multivitamins and a very good diet

I am calling attention to this particular case because this small animal fights for her life, eating meals, taking medicines, etc. Her normal weight should be @ 25 kilos (55.12 lbs).

If there is anyone out there that can help her in her recovery, please donate through paypal to donations@amazoncares.org and make a memo that this is for the Husky mix.

UPDATE: Husky is recovering wonderfully after six weeks of treatment!

Thank you to the following four donors for helping to save her life:

Carol Benedicto

Howard Lichtman

Robert Jackson

Sarah Smith

These generous donors helped us begin treatment on this beautiful dog. However, her treatment has been expensive and is ongoing, and we are still seeking sponsors for her. If you are able to help us give her a healthier life, free of fear, secure in a happy environment and nutritious food and health care, PLEASE open your hearts and wallets and help her now.

As previously stated, I said the two largest donors could choose her name. Carol and Robert are tied for this honor. This is a female dog. Both Robert and Carol have had animals named after them. Roberto is still at our shelter, and Candy was adopted years ago. I will be sending emails to Robert and Carol for suggestions.

Seeing progress like this inspires everyone at Amazon CARES to continue our work!
